released January 1, 2010

George Asimakos (guitar), Chris Ware (bass), and Lee Corum (drums), have all been consistently involved with music in Atlanta for the last 10+ years. Following the demise of their bands Blame Game, Some Soviet Station, and Lay Down Mains, the trio convened with the intention of writing instrumental rock songs with a focus on composition. Gold Standard “CD-EP” was recorded at by Patrick Klem at Klemfastic Sound (Shipping News, Raveonettes, Fin Fang Foom, Polvo).

“From hectic rhythms to brilliant, subdued lulls, Gold Standard impressed at every sharp tempo change. The band’s debut EP is a great representation of how amazingly well Gold Standard are doing instrumental rock. Complex, yet completely inviting.” - Sound As Language

"Some of the craziest instrumental music I've heard...engaging, encouraging, and exciting...highly recommended." - RockFreaks

“…skillfully weaving plodding basslines with noodley guitar freakouts and pummeling drums….really really good.” - Ear Drum

“Enough tempo changes and intricate rhythms to excite fans from straightlaced indie rock to tech-metal heads… Gold Standard are hard to pin down exactly, but if this EP is any indication, they could be on to something very special.” - Hearwax

“If you’re in the mood for a small taste of well done instrumental rock then give Gold Standard’s self-titled EP a listen.” - CW Ross

“‘Instrumental rock’ in the truest sense…the band will knock you over with a flurry of blows from their power trio set-up.” - Opus Zine

"Think Don Caballero with a bit less aggression. I like the three songs here.” - Aidabet
